Warren and Patricia Benson Forum on Creativity
The Warren and Patricia Benson Forum on Creativity is a semi-annual event held at the Eastman School of Music, curated by the Composition Department, with the purpose of encouraging open discussion on the nature of creativity across artistic disciplines. It is made possible by a generous gift from the Benson family.
The Forum engages the artistic partnership interests of Warren and Pat Benson — in the arts, poetry, languages, history and cultures — to inform the creative process and, especially, to offer young composers the opportunity to explore writing and hearing new works influenced by these elements.
Featured Guest Artists
The Warren and Patricia Benson Forum on Creativity features engagement of composition students with guest artists, culminating in concerts of new works.
Featured guest artists have included:
Arthur Ganson, kinetic sculptor, artist in residence at MIT
Lia Purpura, poet and writer-in-residence at Loyola College
Tony Arnold, soprano and Howard Hanson Visiting Professor
Cuong Vu, jazz composer and trumpet virtuoso, University of Washington
